The Black Technique honors the sophistication of black techniques in electronic music.

“What is the content of (black) technique? What is the essence of (black) performance?”

“An imperative is implied here: to pay attention to (black) performances since it is left to those who pay such attention to retheorize essence, representation, abstraction, performance, being.”

Taken and adapted from The Undercommons :Fugitive Planning & Black Study , Stefano Harney and Fred Motten, Minor Compositions, 2013.

Silver Tears

DJ Set

Based in Zürich, Silver Tears call themself an intuitive non-binary DJ. Their style of playing is “sugar trap”, which is both a style and mindset: raw and unafraid. Silver creates a sonic journey exploring sugar trap as a genre, navigating between a chameleon fluid energy to a raw uncompromising one. Silver proposes a sound where nostalgia guides the mix, wherever it goes. They love hardcore, and its grounding roots in the queer community, as well as trap, jersey club, house, amapiano and afro beats. Silver brings together these layers of complexities in their trans diaspora sound. Generally, Silver loves to be able to get a crowd dancing, sweating and lost in the music. Let’s mark our gratitude for their precious contribution with our joyful dancing bodies

Nkisi

Melika Ngombe Kolongo was born in Congo, raised in Belgium, and began using the moniker Nkisi after moving to London in 2012. Equally influenced by African polyrhythms, hardcore techno, and ’70s Italian horror films, Nkisi produces intense and powerful club tracks. The London-based musician and visual artist is one of the co-founders of NON Worldwide, a collective of experimental artists from across the African diaspora. In 2020, Nkisi’s new label INITIATION emerges with INT001, a tree tracks EP melting rhythmic noise strategies with secret drum languages from Ancient Kongo traditions.

Jasmine Infiniti

DJ Set

Born in the Bronx and based in Brooklyn, Jasmine Infiniti’s sound is a mesh of underground styles that New York City artists have long-shaped: her DJ sets and original music oscillate between ballroom, hip-hop, house, industrial and techno, racing between fury and euphoria to create cathartic moments. While playing in just about every underground scene in North America – Jasmine puts out releases with homegrown labels such as Club Chai and Molly House. It wasn’t until pandemic times, when she self-released her hard techno opus “BXTCH SLÄP,” that her sound truly took form. Jasmine Infiniti has been an integral part of modern North American club culture, and will continue spreading her message globally in the near future.
