Master of synthwave, James Kent aka Perturbator will be back at the Docks after a first appearance in 2019. Outside the boundaries of styles, somewhere in a little-known parallel universe between metal and electro, his sounds offer deep emotions to our souls and electric sensations to our bodies. Get ready, on his latest album Lustful Sacraments (2021), the exploration continues.
According to Wikipedia, “Noise rock is a musical genre that emerged in the 1980s. Broadly defined, it is considered an experimental offshoot of punk rock”. And according to Health? It’s not the words that matter, but the sound. A sound to describe dark times, lack of bearings, anxiety, the sound made real by the brutality of rhythms and controlled dissonance.
From a distance, the vision is more industrial than cultural. Between cables and boxes, Author & Punisher’s set-up gives off metallic sensations, between science fiction and manufacturing. But the envelope is not everything. This almost dehumanised installation creates lively sound atmospheres, accompanied by the movements of the artist, an ex-engineer with mad genius. A complete immersion in the world of Tristan Shone.
