Meryl knows how to mix reggae, trap, rap and pop like no one else. This mix of styles has created a world of her own, and she has been winning over crowds with it since 2016. With her rhythmic music, sometimes sung in Creole, the Martinique-born artist – whose credits include prods for Soprano and Matt Pokora – seems to know the secret of creating hard-hitting, unifying sounds.

Since her first releases in 2021, Lakna has had a string of important moments: concerts, nominations, and then in 2023 she was spotted by Warner. With her new EP UTC-O – the time zone of Burkina Faso – the artist begins a two-stage journey that will end with the release of GMT+1 – the time zone of Switzerland. It’s a way of honouring two parts of her, exploring different musical influences and moods, from afro soul to electro-pop, via rnb and soul.
