The sounds of Ásgeir smell of Iceland. From wilderness to green hills, from black sand to translucent icebergs, the singer-songwriter honours his native land in sensitive songs that resonate with nature. From Icelandic to English, the voice conveys soothing emotions and, with a light heart, the mind can travel.
Sam Himself likes to describe his style as “Western Fondue”, and it’s very apt. From Basel, his home canton, he moved to New York ten years ago to develop his artistic personality. He then created a pop universe with dark corners, carried by his baritone voice in crooner mode. The whole thing slides on slow but catchy rhythms, completely melancholic.
